We first met sculptor Nikos Benos-Palmer on Tinos back in 2000 where a number of us took a marble carving workshop at the Petros Dellatolas Studio. We kept up with him and found out that he is not only a first rate sculptor but a naturalist at too! Over the years he has worked tiresly to clear, document and mark Tinos’ hiking paths and over our treks we kept pace with his little blue hiking men keeping us on course. We met up again this summer in his new studio in a hamlet just outside Athens where he has built a garden full of marble hearts. Hearts created and installed with Nikos’ well known tongue-in-cheek humour—hearts of stone, broken hearts, hearts for sale etc.
