A much awaited exhibition of works by senior Alberta artist Douglas Haynes is slated to take place at the Center for Mediterranean Architecture, Chania, Crete, from June 9 to 28, 2010. Doug has travelled across Crete and has captured “fragments of Crete” as he calls them, “fragments” that are so telling of the Cretan landscape but above all convincingly demonstrate Haynes’ ability to capture the landscape and the stories it wants us to learn. The exhibition has the support of the Canadian Embassy in Greece, and is being curated and organized by our own Dr. Caterina Pizanias. There will be a catalogue and a number of ancillary events and all are welcome to visit us this June in Chania. Below are some samples of the works to be shown as well as a couple of photos from the dinner at the Manousakis Estate (more on that later) where her Excellency the Canadian Ambassador to Greece Dr. Renate Wielgosz is giving a toast to the success of the exhibition. |
